I am a full time beekeeper; my life is dictated by the seasons. I enjoy hiking, camping, traditional archery, shooting, canoes and kayaks, bonfires, metal and blues music, gardening, reading, the great lakes, and national parks, to name a few. I am a country boy, but more of the back-woods, back-packing, nature-loving type. I don't really care for mud bogs, NASCAR, or most country music. I could never fully appreciate taxidermy. I am not a sport fisherman, just a hungry one. I don't kill anything I don't intend to eat unless it threatens my life, livelihood, or family.

I admit I am a wannabe subsistence farmer. One of my ultimate goals is to have a self reliant (off the grid) lifestyle which provides all of the necessities for comfortable living and communication. The bee business exists on my grandfathers farm. He's my father figure and mentor, and the biggest pain in my ass. I help him care for my grandmother who was recently diagnosed with dementia.

"I don't know what God is, but I know what he isn't". I'm not a religious man... but I believe in something beyond limitation. I have faith. I have values. I pray, and I give thanks. God is my father, the Earth is my mother. I believe in compassion, empathy, respect, and that we all, regardless of upbringing, religion, or moral standard, have the capacity to tell right from wrong. It's called conscience. Intuition. Gut feeling. I listen to my heart.
