Favorite thing about each other? EVERYTHING.

Over the past few years I have tried several dating sites, but struggled finding someone I could really connect to. I had become extremely frustrated and tired of dating, so I deleted my account on the app I was currently using. I was going to give dating a break altogether. I had made an account on Farmer's Only once, years ago, but I've never lived on a farm or in the country. I was just on there because I am drawn to the outdoors, and I appreciate the value of hard work. I wanted a partner who felt the same-- I thought a farmer or country man would probably have similar interests. I quickly deleted my account because I felt like a fraud. However, Christmas day of last year, a Farmer's Only commercial convinced me to give it another shot. I created an account that night and the very next morning, I met the man I had been searching for.  - Cailee.

What did you do on your first date?

Our first date was anything but traditional. We wanted to meet as soon as possible, but he was living in Seattle at the time because of his job and I live in Southern California. So we waited it out for three weeks until it was time for him to come back Sacramento. However, he didn’t have an apartment in Sacramento until 3 days before it was time for him to return. The day he made the 16 hour drive to his new apartment, I made the much shorter 7 hour drive to meet him in Sacramento. So for our “first date” I helped him move into his new place! I was glad to help and we were just so happy to see each other, it didn’t matter what we were doing. I was in Sacramento for 7 days. We ran errands, shopped for furniture, found local places for good food and coffee, we went bowling, played pool, and had an absolute blast.

When did you know that he was the one?

I had a feeling he was the one pretty much right away. I was immediately and completely smitten. My feelings were confirmed after our first phone call. We both began hinting at how strong our feelings were for one another within a week. It hadn’t been but 10 days when we started talking about marriage and our future children, but we saved the first “I love you” until we met in person. It may sound ridiculous, but when you know, you know.

How did he propose? Were you surprised?

Cheyne’s proposal was very sweet. The first day we started texting, I mentioned that I was going on a picnic with a friend. He suggested that we go on a picnic someday because we both always wanted to do so with a significant other, but never experienced it. So after I visited him in Sacramento twice, he flew down to see me and we went on a hike and had a picnic. I knew he was going to propose very soon, because we had already talked about it and we looked at rings together. But I didn’t know when exactly it would happen, so that part was a surprise. We were all alone on a beautiful day, on my favorite trail, having a lovely time. It was very thoughtful and special. I wouldn’t change a thing about it.

What is your favorite thing about each other?

Our favorite things about each other? I read that question to my fiancé and we simultaneously said “uh, everything!”  Getting deeper, we have both always desired someone who shares our faith. That had been the #1 priority when it came to finding a spouse, so I’d say our favorite thing about each other is that we can grow together in Christ.
